This year, ten students including one female student graduated from the OMEXOM Summer School, organised by OMEXOM GA Energo for the second consecutive year. The week-long event was designed to provide students with valuable information and hands-on experience, featuring field trips and meetings with experts.
The OMEXOM Summer School was held at the end of August, beginning with a welcome session at OMEXOM GA Energo’s headquarters. Participants were greeted by the CEO Zdeněk Židek, who introduced the programme. The company’s CFO Aleš Uldrych provided insights into the company’s economic position, while Simona Svobodová, the head of the HR department, addressed various HR issues.
Subsequently, Michal Loveček, the Manager for Foreign Contracts, explained the role of OMEXOM brand within the VINCI structure and shared details about significant foreign projects he is involved in. After these introductory presentations, the participants travelled to Korbußen, Germany, where they toured the OMEXOM Institute training centre.
Tour of the OMEXOM Institute
In Korbußen, the students were welcomed by the head of the OMEXOM Institute training centre, a vital part of the OMEXOM training structure. After an introductory presentation, the group toured the facilities, which included the training areas for fitters. During the tour, participants observed a practical demonstration of climbing techniques. Notably, the OMEXOM Institute trains approximately 1,200 workers each year over 200 training days.
The third day of the summer school, students enjoyed a variety of exciting activities. First, they visited the material warehouses and the training polygon in Nekmir, where they explored the HV Lines division and experienced virtual reality. In the afternoon, the group headed to Mýto to participate in an outdoor paintball battle.
Substation and Brewery
On the penultimate day of the summer school, the focus shifted to design. Dominik Jedlička, a recent graduate who is now our employee, explained how to design substations. This theoretical session was followed by a tour of the substation in Hradec u Kadaně, organised by ČEPS.
After the intensive program, participants were treated to a tour of the Plzeňský Prazdroj brewery, which included dinner at the Na Spilce restaurant and a concert on the brewery grounds.
On the fifth day, HV and LV/MV line designers, along with surveyors, shared their experiences. This was followed by a guided tour of the lines, featuring expert commentary near the Dolanský Bridge. After a joint lunch, it was time to say goodbye. All participants of the summer school received a small token of appreciation from the company before heading home.
