OMEXOM Summer University focused on energy and electrical engineering was a new project organized by OMEXOM GA Energo at the end of this year’s summer holidays. Six students attended the week-long program, which included lectures and workshops in both Czech and English, as well as visits to construction sites and a field trip to the training centre in Korbussen, Germany.

The CEO of OMEXOM, Zdenek Zidek, met with students to introduce them to the company, showcase the opportunities available after completing their studies, and generate interest in the energy industry. “The aim was to provide practical insights into this sector, support modern education, and the development of smart technologies. Based on the feedback, it can be inferred that the initiative was a success,” said Mr. Zidek. During the introductory session, he also explained the position of OMEXOM company in the global corporation VINCI Energies.

Six young men, who were Energy Engineering students from Brno, Prague and Pilsen, attended the OMEXOM Summer University. On the first day, they had to face the challenge which tested their English language skills during the lecture of Mackenzie Clements, the project manager of OMEXOM Brand from VINCI Energies.

The program of the event was created in collaboration with experts from throughout the company. Michal Lovecek, the head of the company’s foreign trade department, acted as the students’ guide and provided them with professional information and personal insights during the excursions. Most of the program was delivered practically, with excursions to various workplaces providing students with valuable information. Martina Silpochova from the HR department, who coordinated the program with her colleagues, reported that the students were excited by the program’s practical focus and found it very informative.

Tomas, one of the students who attended the OMEXOM Summer University, praised the event for its practical focus: “I particularly enjoyed the excursions to the warehouse, transmission line construction site, and training centre in Germany. Even the lectures were practical, making for a pleasant and informative experience.“

The OMEXOM Summer University had a dual purpose; to provide insight into the company and its ongoing projects, as well as to inform students about the job positions available to them after graduation. “We offer project designer and project manager positions to graduates and also provide the option of paid part-time jobs during their studies. We hope that our summer school students will return to us as employees after completing their studies,” concludes Martina Silpochova.

OMEXOM Summer University received a very positive response, and plans for the 2024 program are already underway.
